Northstar California, formerly Northstar at Tahoe, has evolved from a day-ski area to one of the most popular destination resorts in the US. The Northstar Ski Resort is now owned by Vail Resorts. It has all the attributes you would expect from a Vail Resort, including excellent customer service and well-developed infrastructure.
Northstar Ski Resort has 97 trails that span 3,170 acres and a 2,280 foot vertical drop. You won’t have to traverse as much as other Tahoe ski resorts such Heavenly. It is also easy to navigate.
Northstar, like many other California ski resorts has a wonderful combination of abundant sunshine and a lot of snowfall. Northstar Tahoe gets an average of 350 inches of snow each season. Due to snowmaking guns the resort can offer approximately 50% of the terrain covered.
Northstar Tahoe is known for its impeccable corduroy groomers, and abundance of tree-lined cruisers. The Northstar Ski Resort offers a great place for beginners. 60% of the trails are rated blue. Some black runs are suitable for intermediate riders, while others are great for advanced riders.
The terrain at Northstar Ski Resort is below tree-line. This makes it a great destination for advanced skiers.
