The Great Smoky Mountains are our winter playground. With breathtaking views of the surrounding mountains, riding the chairlift is a joy. A beginner’s chairlift provides novices with the necessary elbowroom to practice their skills and learn on smooth slopes such as Rabbit Hill and Easy Way. Intermediate and advanced skiers and snowboarders will find plenty of fun on Rock Island Run, Lower Omigosh and Rabbit Hill. Experienced experts can take on Upper Omigosh. Our Cat Cage Terrain park offers thrills for skiers and riders looking for more. It features ramps, rails, and boxes. Cataloochee is a great place for everyone, whether you’re a beginner or seasoned skier or snowboarder.
Cataloochee Ski Resort can be found just outside of the Great Smoky Mountains National Park. The magnificent view from the top of the mountain overlooks Catalaoochee Valley. This is the resort’s original name. It is home to a bar and restaurant, as well as a large deck that overlooks slopes.
Slope Breakdown: Cataloochee boasts 18 trails and 5 lifts, including 1 quad, 1 triple and 1 double chair, and 2 moving carpet lifts that are suitable for beginners.
Relax with your family and friends after a day on the mountain. It’s great to share stories and enjoy a post-ski drink while you are enjoying good food at the lodge. A local bluegrass band might be playing. Before you go down the mountain, don’t forget to visit the lodge’s gift store to get your Cataloochee gear.
